I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at Ohio Northern University. My research has focused on the reciprocal relationship between gender equality and the maintenance of peace and security. Specifically, my research finds that security threats impede the election of women and can promote sexism in society. In addition, higher levels of female representation can reduce the risk of a coup d'etat. My research can be found in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Armed Forces & Society, and the Studies in Comparative International Development. Due to my background as a nurse, I am also interested in the politics of health, especially surrounding women's access and care. More information on my published work and works in progress can be found on my research page. More information about my teaching, including course syllabi, can be found on my teaching page. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
