I am an instructor at Ohio Northern University. My research has focused on the reciprocal relationship between gender equality and the maintenance of peace and security. Specifically, my research finds that security threats impede the election of women and can promote sexism in society. In addition, higher levels of female representation can reduce the risk of a coup d'etat. My research can be found in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Armed Forces & Society, and the Studies in Comparative International Development. Due to my background as an Air Force nurse, I am also interested in female veterans issues and women's health.
